“Stop Playing Small”

📖 Scripture:

Matthew 25:14-15 (MSG) “It’s also like a man going off on an extended trip. He called his servants together and delegated responsibilities. To one he gave five thousand dollars, to another two thousand, to a third one thousand, depending on their abilities.”

📚 The Break Down

  • “delegated responsibilities” – God doesn’t give gifts for decoration. He gives them with expectation of use and return.
  • “depending on their abilities” – God sized your gift to match your capacity. He didn’t shortchange you or overwhelm you.
  • The different amounts – This isn’t about fairness, it’s about stewardship. Your job isn’t to compare—it’s to multiply what you’ve been given.

🔎 Context
Jesus is teaching about the Kingdom through this parable. The servants who invested their talents were praised. The one who buried his was called wicked and lazy. God expects growth, not safety.

🔥 Life Check
Are you burying your talents in the backyard of “someday” and “what if”? Fear of failure isn’t humility—it’s disobedience. God gave you gifts to use them, not protect them.

✍🏾 Puttin’ it in Action
Identify one talent you’ve been sitting on and take one small step to use it this week. Sign up for that class, start that project, have that conversation.

💡 What This Really Means
Playing small doesn’t serve God or anybody else. When you operate in your gifts, you give others permission to do the same.

🙏🏾 Altar Call to Action
God, forgive me for playing it safe with what You’ve entrusted to me. Give me boldness to step out and multiply what You’ve given me for Your glory.
